Mr Ng Kwong Fung’s journey into the world of jewellery began in 1978 on Canton Road, Hong Kong. Armed with only an unwavering passion, he immersed himself into the intricate world of jewellery, quickly becoming an expert on jewellery sourcing, design and fabrication.
By 1983, he had 2 retail shops in Hong Kong. Never one to rest on his laurels, he moved into wholesale manufacturing for businesses with a factory in Jakarta with over 500 craftsmen. In 1988, he set up another factory in Singapore and by this point was selling not just to Hong Kong but Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.
In 2016, he began working with auction houses such as Sothebys, Christies and Bonhams where he shared some of his best work. Seeing a rising interest in precious gemstones, he started Precious Origins in 2017 and in 2023, opened a retail outlet in Hong Kong to showcase his collection of gemstones collected over 40 years.
What sets Mr Ng apart is his commitment to perfection. Even after 40 years, he still personally oversees every step of the jewellery-making process. From hand-picking each stone till the final polishing and boxing, his exacting standards ensure that every piece of jewellery that leaves his hands is of the highest quality.
